Yesterday's Home section of The New York Times, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne showed off his one-of-a-kind home in Oklahoma City. A funky and eclectic mix of colors and materials the home captures the imagination...

The Coynes live a few blocks from where Wayne grew up and their homestead has grown as they acquired a few of the homes surrounding their original property. They use this space as a creative laboratory and studio — both band rehearsals and the latest project, the movie "Christmas on Mars."

Wayne "Coyne" not Cohne
oops. thanks.
I heart the Flaming Lips.
Great place! I'm fully obsessed with the linoleum kitchen floor.
that task lamp "chandelier" is great.
I just love that fixture, amt230. I first saw it in Domino March 2008 (kept the page, it's so wonderful and I have the chairs in the photo LOL), tho I'm sure it's terribly expensive. My husband really dislikes it, and I imagine many guests would not enjoy dining under it but I think it's really fun, reminds me of Edward Scissorhands.

i'd expect nothing less of wayne coyne
I almost adopted a puppy from him while on tour with them. What a weird fact.
Too bad there aren't more pictures.
Love the subway-type tiles in the kitchen.
And the fact that OKC is getting a shout-out on AT!
jendavid99, I have a tendency to think this about a lot of things, but I think this would be a relatively easy DIY. The task lamps at IKEA come separate from the base, so all you'd have to really machine would be the ring to receive all them - which could be as easy as drilling holes into a hardwood ring. rewiring would be a snap. if I only had room for the finished product. anyone wanna commission me?
Wayne rules. I'm so excited to see the Times giving him some props.
Icky.
Wayne you rock! Amazing house, amazing inspiration. We all have ideas but it's uncommon to make them come alive so succesfully.
Anyone know the story on that desk lamp?? New? Old? Designer? Target?
I've been dreaming of it since I saw....
