This post is a bit of a Flickr Finds meets Before and After meets Good Questions...a little bit of everything! Longtime AT reader Mindy sent us an email with the details and photos of a recent (very successful!) chair rescue reupholstery job AND a question for the AT audience on where to place the newly refinished beauties in their not so big home "filled to the brim with furniture we love"...Read on...
I wanted to share photos of our new chairs with AT Chicago. Mike (my husband) and I recently inherited his Great Grandmother's chairs from the 1920's. His Grandmother has had the chairs for years and is trying to downsize her home. His uncle was getting ready to take the 2 matching chairs to the Salvation Army at Thanksgiving when Mike and I grabbed them up!
We took them to Zollinger's Furniture in St. Louis to have them refinished in ebony and reupholstered in a cream colored Knoll fabric (which I scored on Ebay for $7/yd).
The chairs were finished this week and I'm eagerly awaiting his parents upcoming trip in March to bring us the chairs (I have only seen pictures).
We are currently waiting for our new condo to be built (which will have plenty of space for our new chairs). In the meantime, we need to find room for them in our current apartment (Small Cool 2007) which is filled to the brim with furniture that we love.
One thought was to store the Nelson bench by the window and put the chairs there. We could also store the Noguchi table and move the Nelson bench over by the sofa and would probably have enough room for a cozy seating arrangement.
