Chris wants us all to know that he was hard at work yesterday. Feeling the DIY spirit, he spent the holiday installing an ÄNGA shelving unit from IKEA.
Chris documented the process on Flickr ; from the BEFORE (above) to the fully-accessorized result. There's an "oops" here and there but we think Chris did a great job.

He says:
I think the ÄNGA shelves are so clean they could really go with anything. My whole shelving system cost less than $500, much less than the $2500 I could have spent on the Treku Bookcase at DWR.
Thanks for letting us in on the transformation, Chris!

Excellent job! I really appreciate your step-by-step photos and the various closeups of the mounting brackets etc. Your room looks awesome!
Good job Chris! Those are some nice looking bookshelves.
So do they come in various widths?
Yep, the shelves come in 40" and 20" widths. The 40" shelves seem to be bending a little at the brakcets...I'm watching to see if the wider shelves can't handle a reasonable amount of weight.
Great job on the shelves! I, however, would also like to know where you found the sectional couch. It's exactly what I'm looking for... please share!
The sectional is from Roy's in Lincoln Park...about 3 years old now.
