We found this over at CXWWW's flickr page: Hotel de Banville's alternative headboard. Mounting a curtain rod to the wall and extending it the length of a bed, the tab-top padded "headboard" slides on. Advantages? Easy to change out and even easier to clean. Disadvantage? Probably not as stable as the real thing. What do you think?

make sure you don't lean when you read, lol.... I can easily see things sliding around. But it does look cool.
Its much too IKEA for me.
