12-21-howard logo.jpgStripping furniture is just not our thing. We gave up halfway through our one attempt to strip a chair years ago. Of course, that was in the days before eco-friendly paint strippers. But still, we'd rather give someone else the chore. Someone like Chris Howard at Antiques & Modern, who we learned about in kind of a roundabout way...

While checking Flickr, we came upon Elka's photo of her new Russell Wright chair (shown here). We knew it looked familiar but didn't put two and two together until we saw these posts on CasaSugar, where she tells her tale of woe concerning a table she found on Craigslist -- and the eventual score of her great new chair.

Which is also where we read about Chris Howard. Based in Berkeley, he'll do the dirty work of furniture restoration and finishing for you. The average cost of refinishing is $150 for a drawer, $800 for a table, $150 for a chair.

Chris also sells furniture and other items. (And in another strange little bit of coincidence, we just noticed that he's the seller of the table we featured in today's Scavenger. Insert Twilight Zone music here.)
