ATDC reader jjfedele shared these pictures of a newly painted renovated kitchen that we found absolutely inspirational. Want to see the "before" pictures? Keep reading after the jump...

Before, the brown wood cabinets did little to make this small interior room shine; even the stainless steel appliances seem out of place. After, the bright white paint cabinetry makes the room look bigger, cleaner, and more modern. We love the new black countertop and the modern stainless hardware, and think the new larger tiles help expand the space. Great job jjfedele!

love it! what materials are the tile & countertop?
It's very nice, but this was a little more than white paint. Brand-spanking new cabinets are the real change.
yeah, those definitely don't look like the same cabinets
debtex- good catch! We obviously looked at these cabinets too fast- we'll fix to reflect the new doors!

I like the silver chunky shelves.
what is this countertop material? Looks like it could be honed black granite or richlite.
I love the backsplash tile choice! It's very simple but the color and overall effect is quite lovely.
Soapstone maybe? It's not reflecting light except maybe where it's been oiled? YUMMY!
Was this just a door change? I would love to hear where they got the new doors, it looks fabulous!
Yay Ikea cabinets!!! I have those same cabinets and hardware in my apartment and they're wonderful. A nice change from the generic apartment kitchens I'm used to.
Where did those cool stainless looking shelves come from?
wow, gorgeous! so fresh and so clean!
Lovely but crying out for some color. With all the neutrals this must be a Canadian kitchen.
I also noticed that the new cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling. This looks MUCH better, but I bet it's more expensive to do, particularly in an older, not-so-perfectly square room.
I love the stainless steel shelves! Where did you get them?
LOVE IT!
Hee! I totally have those 'before' shelves...
the stainless shelves are amazing
I think if they would have painted the cabinets white instead of replacing them, it would have looked better and with less waste...
I agree with 2lastnames. Since they didn't move the sink or the stove, they could have saved a ton of money by just painting those cabinets. It would have looked less generic too. Maybe they're just new doors that go all the way up.
my mum visited me in nyc a few weeks ago and we went to ikea for the first time and we fell in love with all the kitchens. what style is yours? also would like to know the same as oliviadc if you just changed the doors or gutted the entire cabinet shelves?
Hi--
Glad everyone liked the kitchen. The countertops are honed black granite. The backsplash is gris porcelein tile. The shelves are from here: http://www.kitchensource.com/shelves/da-welcome.html .
For those that suggested painting the cabinet, we considered it but wanted the extra storage that the higher cabinets provided. We also added cabinets over the refrigerator and added the cabinets and extra counterspace under the stainless steel shelves (a space which used to be a pantry). IKEA cabinets were the way to go. Cheaper than even refacing. The hardware, however, is not IKEA.
