When you've run out of floor space in your tiny apartment...go up. That's what Marc's done with his home office, by installing shelves from ISS Designs and even switching his monitor to vertical-mode. But that's not all...

He's also added a cool LED feature that allows the office to glow at night. Thanks for sharing your office with us Marc!

Is that a closet space? If so, I love it!!!
I just hope those aren't LaCie external HDD. They're crap.
Nice setup, but the Audio Engine speakers placement is not good.
I turn my moniter vertical as well.
Give me a break. What space is being saved by having the monitor in vertical mode? It's clear from the empty space around the monitor that its used in both configurations. Nice desk area but lets not go overboard...
Please spread your speakers apart.

Southernwayfarer, if the target of your scorn works in publishing and has to lay out or edit pages, there's probably a very good reason for the vertical monitor: it allows an entire page to be seen at once, no scrolling.
Bostonista,
I'm not sure how you decided that Marc (the desk owner) is the target of my scorn. You are completely off the mark. My point is simply that it is silly to suggest that putting the monitor in vertical mode is saving space (in this case). Marc did a great job with his desk space. Frankly, I don't think Marc ever suggested that he has the monitor in vertical mode to save space. I think that's the brainchild of someone at AT.
BTW, I understand why monitors are used in vertical mode. I use my monitor in that mode often.
Sorry, wayfarer. Your tone threw me off.
Instead of crapping on the equipment, we should just notice that Marc made good use out of a small space. Even though a lot of the storage is IKEA, the chair and the army green drawer unit (is that painted or did IKEA ever sell that color?) give it personality- it doesn't feel IKEA. Using multiples of the same storage boxes calms the space because of the unifying colors/materials. It's not easy to de-clutter an office space so I'm impressed.
Adding a smallish framed black and white photograph or something similar to the back wall would give it a little more personality and give Marc something to look at while he's thinking up great ideas...
