Even if your getaway is looking at someone else's country house online, it can be quite refreshing. That was our sentiment when we found this photo of Martha's country house library. It's serene and spare. We love those wide plank floors, white-painted beams, and blue shelves packed with summer reading. For an armchair escape, see more of Martha's country house at her Flickr slideshow.

Very nice. Looks like Martha's not susceptible to poison ivy.
Wow, gorgeous. I LOVE the bathroom so much. Where is this exactly?
Idyllic.
Who is this Martha? Love the house, and everything about it, from the rhubarb pie to the fluffy duvets. Wish I knew her! Her place is magical...
the house is gorgeous but I LOVE the dog!
i dream of having an escape like this down the road. i'm lusting over the four poster bed with fluffy white down duvet and those amazing wood floors. this is really beautiful, seems like a wonderful escape.
Couldn't be improved on. I hope you enjoy many happy years there.
Quite nice. Makes me relax just looking at it.
Amen Joan A.- and if you're reading Martha, your shovel is surrounded by poison ivy.....
I'm jealous!
I'm jealous too! Maybe I should save my penny's a get a little place in the country. I can use the escape right now.
(Martha here) Thanks everyone for the nice comments! It's in the Catskills (Ulster County), eight acres on a quiet dead-end road. Yes, we know about the poison ivy, unfortunately it's everywhere... working on getting rid of the patches right around the house. We just got bought it a few months ago, so it's our first summer there and we're having fun cooking big dinners, gardening, painting, and antiquing!
