Ottawan and blogger Kim of Desire to Inspire is not only okay in our book for her love of felines (she goes by kimhas4cats on Flickr), but also because her photo set titled My First House is one of the best finds we've stumbled upon online in quite awhile. Each room is a pantheon to beautiful objects, vibrant colours, and graphic touches, visually rich and a catalog of ooh, I want that's...
Plenty to "ooh" and "ahh" over, including vintage cameras, assorted ceramics, and even her own handmade cat pods!
It may be her first home, but we think she's been this stylish her whole life from the looks of things. Check out My First House for all the images!

OMG I'm freaking blushing. Gregory - thanks so much for the sweet post about my place.
yea Kim! You go girl.
Congrats Kim! I go away for a couple of days and you're the flickr star of AT:LA. Way to go girl. Not only is your place fab but you're the demon DIY queen.
all this color is so, so exciting! love the low hung art in the living room as well.
Yes, yes, yes...you've got it!
This is how to use Ikea stuff - boldly, and mixed with other things. I'm especially impressed with the red legs on the dining room table. Kim has talent as well as cats! And she knows how to take pictures.
Kim,
I am about to buy the Lillberg sofa and one of the chairs in the set, in white, from Ikea. I haven't come across them "in use" anywhere else and I don't think that AT has touched on them recently enough for me to have read. I am just curious if you would recommend them. Is the white crisp? Are they comfortable? Your home is simply beautiful. I'd greatly appreciate your opinion on the sofa.
Now, isn't that a nice parquet floor?
(For those who claimed planks were better, do you think that's true here? Below the dining room table, especially, the parquet does a better job of anchoring things, to my eye.)
Thanks everybody! For the record, the dining table is temporary until I find "the right table" (whatever that is). DubTriptych, if you like firm couches, then it's great. And it's not even close to white. It's very off-white. If you look closely in the last photo, my walls are (at that time) painted ultra pure white, and you can see the difference in the colour of the walls and the sofa. I wanted to dye the covers but I've since moved it into the basement tv room so it's now my boyfriend's problem.
Source of white rug in the first (beautiful) room?
wow! I love all the spots of bright colors - what a gorgeous place!
Kim, the way your hallway used to look with orange walls and white trim inspired me to do the same with mine. I still love the way it looks and feels to this day!
Signed,
Heather with one cat
Kim,
This is by far my favorite house shown on AT to date. Its beautiful. I love everything about it.
Mostly I love that it give me hope that my BF's mid century dark wood, yellow tones, modern aesthetic, will jive with my more light wood tones, pop of color, cozy, aesthetic. Thank you so much for sharing!
Love love love the joyful use of color. I'm crazy about that turquoise painted panel above the dining room sideboard.
I just noticed this was reposted. Cool :) I sold that house last winter.
The white rug is a faux flokati by Debbie Travis sold at Canadian Tire. And thanks everyone for the lovely comments this time around.
I love the lime green couch with the dark wood. I wonder how much something like that would go for.
