We've seen j_fer_rose's fabulous studio before on the Cure, but couldn't resist sharing these pictures of her lovely Murphy bed now that she's tagged them with apartmenttherapydc. We love how this small studio is transformed by the bed and by the bright and beautiful colors...

Truly lovely j_fer_rose! Thanks for sharing your photos with our new group.

That's a beautiful wallbed - worth every dime.
Love the green & love the bed.
Am I just being thick as a brick? - what does she do with all the stuff on the shelves when it's a bed? There isn't enough museum putty in the world! And what about the books?
Someone put me out of my misery and answer or I won't sleep tonight!
Gorgeous!
It looks like those shelves actually slide over- if you look at the "bed down" vs "bed up" picture, you can see how they move!
I had the same thought at first, myself :)
Everydaydiva, the shelving hiding the bed simply slides to either side cover up the books.
This is nice to look at, and appears to be quite usable too. I love the way the middle shelves slide to the side. I might go with an exposed barn door mechanism over the hidden track though.
great color and use of space
I'm a sucker for sliding shelves...
I'm in love with that set up. Does anyone know how easy (or hard) it is to install a murphy bed unit in a studio?
A Murphy bed is such a good solution for a small area. We built one from a kit for a guest room. When it's up, you don' see it; you use a regular mattress and your bedding can stay on the bed. (It comes with straps to capture the pillows.) If you have to "make" your bed every evening, it's too easy to just sleep on the couch in a jumble of bedding.
I think it is gorgeuos! Such a great solution for a small space! I wonder how much it might cost...?
That is a great looking murphy bed; totally worth the expense/inconvenience of installation.
Is that a custom job or does a company make those?
I checked out her flicker and she says she bought a Parker Library Bed a few years ago form http://www.murphybedsdirect.com/
Prices normally start at $2500, but there's a 40% off sale with twins starting at $1500
Thank you, thank you, ekcumbus and muawiya! Now I realise that those shelves slide, I think it's absolutely brilliant. And that I wish I'd thought of it. And that I AM thick for not noticing.
the wall color is calming
The room is beautiful...
This is awesome!!! Well done.
I love this !!!!
Thanks everyone.
I assembled this bed myself (with help from a friend). The assembly was like Ikea assembly, but on steroids. It took an entire weekend. But it was absolutely worth it.
It did cost me a bit over $2000, but considering the money I saved by buying a studio rather than a one bedroom, I think it was money well spent.
And yes, the middle shelves slide in front of the outer shelves and books, vases, etc. all stay put. The only downside is that when the bed is down you can't access your belongings on the outermost shelves (because they end up behind the sliding shelves).
I love my Library bed system. We bought ours from http://www.murphybedsdirect.com
I reccomend them for best price. We had it shipped to us and assembled it in one weekend.
The sliding shelves are very smooth and you can leave everything on the shelves when you slide them open and closed.
