Can you believe that Bravo's Flipping Out is in its 5th season? So much has happened over the years — Jeff ended his business relationship with former castmate/ex-boyfriend Ryan Brown, he hired and fired a few of his employees, and even though the show is called Flipping Out, he no longer flips houses. Judging from the premiere episode of the new season, it looks like Jeff is stirring up just as much conflict working with clients as going through full renovations during his house flipping days.

Some people think Jeff Lewis is obnoxious, but I think that he is quite charming. Behind all his particulars, I can tell that he really puts a lot of passion and hard work behind his projects. Someone who seems to find Jeff charming as well is Gage, Jeff's 26-year-old boyfriend.
Beyond all the drama, let's talk about the actual designs. Jeff redesigned his client Marlo's kitchen on a budget. Instead of purchasing all new cabinetry (which he may have done in a different economy a few years back), he painted the existing cabinets to give it a new look. He installed a green subway tile backsplash to add subtle color to the space.

In Marlo's entryway, Jeff uses wallpaper that works well to create a visual separation between the entryway and main living space. He creates balance by incorporating the same wallpaper in the sitting room. The entire design takes longer than planned, but when it is finally complete, Jeff's client is very happy with her newly designed space.

Will you be watching Flipping Out (Wednesdays at 9) this season?

Hooked again. Best show on Bravo. Yes, it's reality TV (albeit, a lot more palatable than one of those housewives shows), but there is actual design and talent driving the episodes. Love it.
We got rid of cable 2 years ago, but I try to catch an episode here and there on the internet. I can't look away from the train wreck that is Flipping Out!
zoila is the best
I was loving all the wallpaper last night, in Jeff's rental house and his client's house. Anyone know where those wallpapers are from?
I love Flipping Out! ...so glad to know that it's in its fifth season, since I too have given up cable and have consequently lost track of the show. Jeff Lewis is awesome.
Yes, yes! I am a huge Jeff Lewis fan! I like pretty much everything he has done--his style is fantastic.
I like Jenny and Zoila, too. :) So funny!
I'm over Jenny. Enough with the schtick already.
Love the show, and Jeff, however.
I hate that show and think Jeff is a reprehensible human being, just like so many awful people who get reality TV shows these days. That said, having recently gone through my own renovations, I can certainly appreciate how someone so fastidious would be great at managing a job.
ahh! it is like watching a train wreck, but i still love it! we cut the cable, any advice on how can we watch- bravo online, hulu, or netflix?
zoila. i love her. "jeff you so crazy"
remember when he had everyone pee in buckets to repel wild animals (was it coyotes?)
Love that show! I think Jeff is a good person overall, but he can be very, very harsh. He's great at his job, though.
Beautiful photos, especially the kitchen
I used think he was awful however then I started really watching him. He has a very dry dark sense of humor and sometimes when you think he is at his worst he is really just messing with someone. That being said he has yet to do a space I don't love. I really appreciate his aesthetic and attention to detail.
The best was when Zoila was at war with the Roomba and Jeff said it was there to take her place. Hilarious!
I like Jeff's work and I also think he's a good person on the inside. A lot of talented people can be difficult to deal with at times and he's one of them. I like the show but Design Star on Bravo is by far my fave. Those designers are just too fun to watch. Also, One King's Lane must be sponsoring that show or something because all of the designers are "curating" sales on the site.
ElaneB I think you're talking about Top Design? Design Star is an HGTV thang
She's addressing Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo.. They must be thrilled no one can remember the name!
Woops! Yes, Million Dollar Decorators. Thanks for the correction. I love them all, especially Mary for rejecting a client with a $1M budget.
He needs to get over himself.
Hey Now Tex - you can get the wallpaper on Alluminare http://www.alluminare.com
Did I just fall into a clever trap luring me into promoting JL wallpaper......Gah!
Anyhoo - I actually dislike JL as I actually had a boss who behaved much like him and it wasn't pleasant. He's extremely narcissistic which causes him to distrust everyone regardless of how obviously devoted they are to him and his business bc, of course, he's the only one who can do anything right. Not even a bit cute.
I too like Jeff and enjoy his show. He does have a unique personality and way about him that I can understand why others might hate him.
I love this show! Zoila is hilarious and so is Jeff... but I dont think I could work for him! Personally not sold on Gage yet but I'm staying tuned. Love that wallpaper too, everytime I see his spaces I want to redo mine.
