This nursery really spoke to us. We love all of the decorative details, especially the Chinese lantern light fixture, but there's something else.
It's the large play area on the floor. The set up is perfect for a young baby who is sitting or crawling. The toy basket and books are stacked around the carpeted play area right on the floor so baby can reach everything. Did you set up something similar for your young baby?

Oh I love this! I am decortaing my nursery just now and thought about doing something similar... v cute!
I should have! It looks so comfy and practical. We are just setting up a room for our 2- and 4-year-olds to share and I plan to have a corner like this with a rug on the floor, a comfy chair for adults, some floor pillows, and baskets and a sling bookcase for their books. I guess it'll be more of a reading nook than a play area.
I use the bottom shelf of the changing table in my 10 month old's room to store toys and books for him to crawl around and get into.. I also have a storage basket filled with soft toys tipped onto its side (almost like a cubby) so that he can see the toys in in there and get what he wants to play with.
I agree, the light and colors are inspiring but I love the space!
We *just* finished consolidating our boys into one room:

Now it's time to work of baby sister's nursery. Thanks for the fresh inspiration.
i had pretty much the same idea for my son ogden, now 11 months. he has a few books (the little stack gets rotated with the rest of his growing book collection so he always has something different to look at), a basket of odds and ends he has collected and likes to dig through, a small bin of little toys and several larger toys (xylophone, stacker, block set) situated around a small quilt i made for him.
he used to sit there all the time and be entertained for quite a while, but now that he's very mobile he drags things around the room. cute, but messy. now i'm trying to teach him to help me clean it all up :)
We have a similar play area in our living room. A play mat, a low shelf for a few books and a few toys (we keep the rest put away and rotate them once a week or so).
We also hung a mirror down low, which gives our daughter lots of feedback and keeps her entertained for long periods every day. We also hung several pieces of art at child's eye level.
We are moving in two weeks, and I am already planning a floor area for my girl. Since she's still little, for now it will be a soft rug and toys. When she gets a bit bigger, I am going to add a book box and beanbag chair so she has an official reading corner.
