Flooring is such an important part of the design of a home. It can easily elevate the aesthetic of your home, so it's crucial to select not only what you love, but what looks fabulous as well! There are so many options out there and while there's no right or wrong, there are floors that just stand out.
I'm completely and undeniably in love with the Black, White & Graphic All Over flooring in the kitchen we saw on Elements Of Style. The look takes a traditional staple of wood flooring in the kitchen and puts a modern and bold twist on it. The end result is fantastic and truly inspirational.
For the bathroom, penny tile is fairly common and traditional, but in Emily's before and after on Design*Sponge it looks so updated. That's most likely due to the dark grout on the floor and then mimicked on the wall.
If you're really wanting to go-for-the-gusto you can just paint brightly colored stripes on the floor!

Chloe's apartment...now lets talk about her wallpaper
that's Chloe Sevigny's apartment NOT zooey dechannel
The wide-plank flooring is nice but the wallpaper... good lord. I'm already nauseous.
Sorry, but the "Black, White & Graphic" flooring just doesn't look good to me. It fights the style of the room it's in. It might work in a more modern room.
I also just can't help thinking about how something like this affects resale value.
Love that black and white, but I cannot find details about it. Anybody know? Is it painted faux bois? I'm about to paint my plywood subflooring in my LR (DH is out of town with kids), and this might change what I decide to do!
So, I'm getting that you like the floor to be a fairly strong, graphic statement. While that's not so much my taste, I could see maybe liking it if everything else in the room were toned down to allow the floor to be the star.
KaBoomBOX and I thought the same thing; good luck selling a house with that ugly flooring in it. Awful stuff!
Love the flooring in that third picture, but I think the wallpaper may have been better on just one wall.
That bathroom is gorgeous.
oh my gosh! I LOVE those distressed wood floors and the black/white wood grain floors. Totally gorgeous!!!
I love the penny tiles in the second photo!
@lazy_lurker--
I've seen that floor in real life -- on a dark, cold winter's night this past December in Prague. Even under those conditions it was a show-stopper. (even with killer windchill, I had to stop and check it out.) It looks like a patterned rubber floor to me; they showed it in the display space of an interior design outfit which specializes in kitchens. The kitchen they matched it with was hyper-modern and has other exaggerated features, and in my opinion, was a much better design fit than this kitchen.
Haven't a clue who makes it though...
Thanks, @mschatelaine, Lucky you -- gotta love Prague, even in December. Maybe better than May, the time of my visit, fewer tourists. Guess I'll go with a charcoal gray for my floor, my initial thought, but maybe I can test a faux bois in bright white (under the sofa?). It looks pretty amazing to me.
I love the first kitchen, but I'm not sold on the flooring--at least in the first picture. Maybe it looks different in person. I do like the wide plank flooring in the 3rd and 4th pictures. Thanks for sharing.
