Buying secondhand and vintage doesn't have to be a dowdy experience—especially if you're buying one of the pieces that have been "re-loved" by Florence & Florence. This mother-daughter team specializes in finding unique secondhand gifts and housewares and making them modern and gorgeous. They recently shared their masterful tips on sourcing and re-loving secondhand items with Etsy blog, The Storque:

First of all, their mission statement is simply wonderful:

Beautiful things. We all love them. We all want them. And so we fill the world with more and more. But wouldn't it be wonderful to know that we can treat ourselves to beautiful things without adding more to the world? We think so. That's what inspired Florence & Florence.

Christine and Annie Florence love the sourcing process, "digging out things with potential from piles of dusty, broken nicknacks in jumble sales, rescuing them from waterlogged tables on rainy market days and eagerly plucking them from the shelves of charity shops across the country."

Want to develop an eye for secondhand buying to achieve a polished and beautiful home? A few of the things they love and are always on the lookout for include:

1 Penguin Books
2 Cutlery and Candelabras
3 Glass Cake Stands and Vintage Plates
4 Maps
5 Teacups and Tea Sets
6 Old Suitcases and Boxes
7 Re-Loved Fabrics
8 Chairs
