Flowerbox Award - 262 Bleecker Street

I was walking down Bleecker Street Monday night and stopped to check out the old bread boxes Zito's Bakery had set out on the street. Zito's has closed after 80 years in business, and I decided to take one of the boxes home for old times sake. Looking up, I saw the flowerboxes across the street. The colors on the second floor were so vibrant: dark purple in the center box and light purple in the outer boxes. Then I noticed how every window on the building had a flower box. Out came the camera, and I snapped this photo because, come on, a whole building planting flowers? Who cares if it was a Monday – these people won the week's award! And then, as if I wasn't already sold, a woman leaned out of the window on the left above the awning and started tending her box. She got the thumbs up from me. SKGR
