It is that time of year - the flowerboxes are back in full force. At some point Maxwell and I had discussed making a small, printable 'award' so that others could nominate flowerboxes - at least I think that was the plan. So I have gone ahead and whipped up a PDF that anyone can DOWNLOAD, cut, and then post in a flowerbox before taking pictures and sending them in or posting over on the Flickr doodad to the right.
Make someone's week - nominate them for a Flowerbox Award!
This week I have pictures from a flowerbox that I saw on my way to get lunch over on Avenue A. It was either on 7th or 8th between Avenue A and 1st. Good mix of flowers and herbs - but the sage was so nice it made me get some for my own garden. Pics were snapped pre-printable award, so you will have to wait until next week to see it in action. What stopped me in my tracks when I passed was the sheer variety in each planter. Each was a mixture of trailing plants, like the nasturtiums, morning glories, and ivy and upward reaching pants like the conifers and herbs. These will be glorious in late summer when everything has filled out and starts to drape over the railing.
