Just in time to celebrate the young light purple spirit of the Beaujolais Nouveau next week, Restaurant Provence (38 MacDougal Street) has revamped their flower boxes with Heather in full-bloom.
Each of the five boxes in front of the restaurant are packed with moss and planted with this sweet little evergreen shrub. The deep pinkish-purple of the blossoms and the rich blue exterior of the building, especially today in the morning rain, look and smell (and make me feel!) vibrant and fresh.
Although cool colors like blue are not usually appetite-inducing (next time you're in a restaurant, note the colors inside and see how they make you feel), the way Provence keeps their exterior and flower boxes so well-tended and simple makes me want to go inside and eat... and I wouldn't turn down a glass of Beaujolais either. skgr
