Each Sunday, we're amongst the faithful who attend the spectacular Hollywood Farmer's Market. It's a life affirming weekly event that reminds us that good food makes for a better life, with stand after stand of organic farmers proudly showcasing a cornucopia of the earth's bounty that shame the average supermarket in comparison. The produce sold each weekend is so beautiful, so vibrantly enticing, we decided we'd forgo our typical flowers purchase this week and instead display some winter flowering kale as an ornamental display inside. We find these cold weather "blooming" kale flower delicious for the eyes, as well as playing double duty as a source for garnish in the kitchen. Brussels sprouts still on the stalk and miniature Romanesco cauliflower also make for surprising "floral" centerpieces. Your mom was correct when she told you your vegetables were good for you!
