In San Francisco alone, the city landfills are comprised of almost 4% dog waste. That's huge! A new company has set out to change this, one flush at a time. Unlike biodegradable bags of the past which were better for landfills, these bags can actually be flushed down your toilet. Would you be brave enough to try them?
I've long thought bags for your dog's poop are ridiculous. I know they're part of being a good neighbor and there's the whole water run off issue if you aren't taking care of your yard (let alone city property), but the local landfills isn't the place to deal with the matter. Flush Doggy agrees and has come up with a bag made from PVA (read up on it here). This allows the bag and it's contents to be flushed down your home toilet.
Although we've yet to road test these bags ourselves, the idea is intriguing and although composting your waste at home is great for those with yards, apartment dwellers might find these handy — though you might get some odd looks walking back into the building with the bag.
