There are a few strategies when buying items for a small space: buy small, buy multifunctional and buy things that fold. Having the option to fold something up means you can tuck it away when you're not using it (like a rocking horse) or create space when company is coming over (like a high chair).
Here are five folding products from our archives that are worth considering:
• Nano folding high chair by Bloom - this is particularly great for apartments lacking dining rooms and eat-in kitchens.
• Foldable Alma crib by Bloom - a crib is not something you're going to want to collapse on a daily basis, but maybe if you're having a playdate or if you're in a nanny-share situation. (Also a nice idea for a grandparent's house.)
• Tori Rocking horse - small home dwellers may think a large toy like a rocking horse is out of the question, but this one folds up smaller than a vacuum cleaner.
• Easy Fold Kids' Step Stool - we use this in our small bathroom and our not-yet-2-year-old knows how to fold it up himself.
• Beaba foldable bath - great for small bathrooms or for travel.

If you really need to conserve space in your kitchen, the FP healthycare booster seat is one of the best the options. It attaches to a regular chair, has a tray, and can be folded up and put away... it's much smaller than the Nano chair.
I would love some feedback on the Alma mini crib from people in apartments with other children. We are considering it for baby #2 because we think we may be keeping the kids separate since our first is a really good sleeper. I love the way it looks and wouldn't mind looking at it in my living room versus some of the bassinets out there. Worth the money? Is it really big enough for say a year old? thanks all!
I second not being a fan of the nano chair. I thought it would be great for our small apartment but we ended up giving it away and getting a safety first booster that straps onto our dinning chair. It takes up slightly more room when its off but when its in use it takes up a lot less room. It also has grown with our child much better.
On the other hand my mil bought one for when the grand kids are at her house and it works great for her.
One big difference between the two is the tray did not come off of ours and does come off of hers.
I also have that stepstool. My only complaint is that it's a little too low for my son to use the sink now--he can't reach the faucets. But he stands on it to brush his teeth and watch himself in the mirror so it works for that and takes up no space at all.
I got the nano chair for my parents as a space saving solution for when we come by with the kids. Well every time its out, we all take turns tripping over its feet! The footprint is very large when it's opened and nearly impossible to walk past it without tripping up over one of the back feet.
