Did you find love through Craigslist's addictive Missed Connections section? First of all, we're going to need to hear all about it, but after that you should have your first, fleeting moments of connection preserved forever in a custom painting.
Sophie Blackall's Missed Connections illustrations are graceful and evocative- I particularly like I Gave You My Umbrella But The Wrong Directions and We Shared A Bear Suit- and capture the magic of Missed Connections at their best. She's received numerous requests for custom paintings, but what with this project and her moving collaboration with her father, Drawn From My Father's Adventures, she's been too busy...
Until now, that is! I asked her nicely, and Sophie said she'd be happy to do custom illustrations for lucky lovers. Commissioned paintings would be approximately 11"x17", would cost $5,000, and you'd need to allow at least one month for completion (she'll be able to give you a more accurate time frame, depending on her current schedule). Contact her with your tale, including the Missed Connections text and a photo of the happy couple, if you're interested in placing an order!

Ha! I had someone post about me on "Missed Connections." Pretty cool. This is a gorgeous art piece and makes it even cooler to recognize the hilarious nature of Missed Connections. In Chicago I went to a "dramatic reading" (comedy) of people reading REAL Missed Connections. It was SO funny! But this turns funny into beautiful.
i love this series! i've always thought the ice skating one and the one about putting up the girl's coat collar were really sweet. Such a fun idea.
These are really sweet but this was not my recent experience with missed connections. I don't know if it's the town I'm in but a good half of them were dudes expressing in not so subtle terms what might transpire on a "date" with them. *shudder*
I met my boyfriend on missed connections! Ever since I heard about them, I've read them religiously everyday. I met my dream man (a shy, shabby chic, hipster with black curly hair and blue eyes) on a patio. he asked me for a cigarette...but I saw he had a pack in his pocket. it was clearly a not so subtle way to stike up a conversation. I missed the oppotunity to exchange contact information with him, and after two days of kicking myself I thought I would post a missed connection about him. I heard back from him within the day! Been living together for two and a half years! Love love love this idea <3
a lingering look, a subtle touch, spoken words then they simply disappear out of your lives and you have to wonder what your life would have been if you had made the first move. This is what i love about when i read missed connection posts.
Remember, Life is far too short so live it up! make mistakes, laugh, love and live.
