Now this isn't the time or place to go into a lecture on the adverse effects of smoking, but rather a place to address the ridiculous amount of waste generated by the habit. Puerto Rican artist, Jesus Bubu Negron took matters into his own hands and made something beautiful from all that roadside trash.

The artist paid street cleaners to save the butts they came across for him. He unrolled the wrappers and used the pieces to "weave" together this pattern, which is actually quite stunning.

Although we're sure it has a pungent smell (stings the nostrils) it's still a great reminder that one man's trash in another mans... um.. cigarette rug. The impact that such a small habit has on the world around is is kind of incredible when it's put into a form that is easily understood.
