Growing up, my mother had several different sewing machine treadles with wooden drawers. They were perfect for holding all sorts of items, even after the machine itself was long gone. Although we used them all throughout the house, they're simply perfect in this small space next to the stove in this kitchen!
If you've ever lived in a place with awkward space between the stove and a wall, you know how frustrating it can be. Most cabinets are too small to fit, and leaving it empty just results in crumbs and a spot that's visually peculiar to look at.
This small space uses treadle boxes beautifully, They're the perfect fit to make the small area next to your stove useful. It's a great place to keep pot holders or preparation and serving utensils to free up counter and drawer space. You'll see these boxes occasionally at thrift stores, but more common are estate sales and auctions. They're built to last a lifetime and can be used all throughout the house to hold small items. They'd also work well in bathrooms to hold small jars of toiletries or even mounted to the wall to make a bill organizer, so be on the lookout!
