AIA Homes Tour: Free Furniture, Color & Design Ideas

For those without the means or budget for a full-blown, knock-walls-down, hire-an-architect remodel, it can seem like there's no inspiration to be had from viewing those kinds of projects. Not true. Plenty of inspiration is to be had, and we've got the perfect place to grab a whole ton.

This weekend in Austin is the AIA Homes Tour and Austin residents are gearing up to visit 15 properties by some of the top architecture firms in the city. If you can make it; you'll no doubt have a blast. But if you can't, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on all these modern home ideas and inspiration.

This year's tour features an unprecedented amount of remodels (perhaps a product of our recent economy) and so it also features a lot of ideas on how to make what you have already better. Sure, many of these homes did see significant structural change, but they also show off great ideas when it comes to the flow of a space and furniture arrangements. Many of them have sleek, uncomplicated styles that are reflected in modern furniture and elegant art choices. Lots of them have really awesome, modern color palettes ripe for adapting and implementing into your own home.

And if all else fails, it's always just a fun break to spend time looking at stunning architectural photography. More about the AIA Homes Tour here. Get the full list of architects (make sure you visit all their websites for more fun projects) and more photos here.
