Free Document Shredding Every Saturday

We posted a couple of weeks ago about a Community Shred Event in Montgomery County; we are delighted to let you know that DC residents can now take advantage of free document shredding every Saturday at the Benning Road Trash Transfer station...

The DC Department of Public Works is now offering the metropolitan area's first permanent, weekly, document shredding service. Two shredding trucks will be on site each Saturday from 8am to 3pm at the Benning Road Trash Transfer Station, 3200 Benning Road NE, 20019.

District residents can to bring up to five, medium-sized boxes (no larger than the standard District recycling bin - approximately 20" x 14" x 14") of personal papers to be destroyed. Only paper (staples, paper and binder clips are okay) and unwanted or expired credit cards will be accepted - business or commercial material. We hope to eliminate lots of paper from our lives in preparation for the Fall Cure; attempting to sort through the office always kills our Cure momentum!

You can reach Benning Road by traveling east on H Street; the name changes to Benning Road at the intersection with Bladensburg Road NE. There is ongoing construction in the area so allow for extra drive time to access the facility.
