Speaking of donating electronics, a few months back, we wrote about how hard it was just trying to get rid of your old CRTs and how nobody wanted to touch those old tech items if you happen to not have thrift store or recycling center nearby. However, like reader Jannarama has suggested, there are sites out there with communities who are just dying to get their hands on your old electronics and "trash."
Sites like Freecycle, which offers an easy means to connect with treasure hunters in your local community, and is a great way to recycle things that would normally be difficult to get rid of - like that old TV laying in your basement or the extra-large shelf you have eating up space in your guest bedroom.
We just signed up the other day and got our hands on a couple of vintage cameras to add to our collection. They were in such great condition that we felt inclined to offer some compensation for it. They didn't take it, of course, but it just shows that there really is treasure out there - you just need to know where to look.
