There's nothing I love more on a cold day (or even on a not-so-cold one) than a hot bath. And if I had one of these gorgeous freestanding tubs, well... I might never leave the bathroom.
Whether it's a traditional claw-foot tub or a more modern shape, these freestanding bathtubs lend a bit of simple elegance to the act of getting clean.

I like them all, thanks. Good collection.
I miss my old claw foot tub, it was the best ! Many happy hours spent reading in that tub in total comfort.
I was having a discussion with a friend who is remodeling a bathroom in a rental he owns (on a budget) and I said I thought it was worth reglazing old claw foots and other cast iron tubs because, having bathed in other more modern types, it was my impression that they didn't hold the heat as well. When my friend went shopping for tubs, he said the salespeople claimed the reverse, that fiberglass retained more heat. I know that a cheap upgrade for a sheet metal tub is to pack the cavity between the walls with insulation....but does anybody know the answer ? What material holds heat the best ?
Fiberglass warms up faster and stays warmer than metal tubs, in my experience. If you've got a really heavy cast-iron tub, it will hold heat well but the trick is getting it warmed up in the first place.
I love the look of freestanding tubs (and we have a lovely one), but none of these photos show shower curtains. We don't have a separate shower stall and taking baths every day isn't in the cards for us, so we have to deal with the curtains. The outer curtain looks pretty, but the inner liners are ugly and annoying. I guess that's something to consider when deciding on a tub style.
Agree with @brittanykate. Taking baths is time-consuming and wasteful, though I do love to lounge in one every so often. We have an old clawfoot bathtub and cleaning the curtains is a PAIN.
It's probably my least favorite chore, personally, but it's also really truly hard to keep clean. Maybe nice for, say, a spare bedroom, but I would opt for a shower if given the choice.
I fell in love with my new apartment's claw foot, but after realising that the cast metal acts like a heat sink = the elusive dream that was never really a hot bath by the time you got in...and also struggling to clean the dirt from underneath, I had it removed. :-( Cute, but does not work.
Sarah-Marie, I have had a claw foot tub for almost 30 years and do not recall EVER struggling to clean the dirt from underneath it. Surely it does not get that dirty under a tub in a bathroom? Nothing a dust mop or swiffer could not handle. Maybe I just don't worry enough about what lurks under my tub. . .
5, 6, 7 and 8... swoooon! I'd like one in my ensuite bathroom of my master bedroom.... -someday-....
