Last week, French artist Vincent Lamouroux used a water-soluble whitewash to transform a motel, including about a dozen Mexican fan palms that surround it. The Silver Lake building has been vacant for over a decade, and has a history of drug activity. "The idea is to disrupt the way we perceive things by giving some special attention to this one place," says Lamouroux.
