Q: I am pouring a new driveway & would love to put my daughter's handprints in the concrete when it is wet! I've done this through the years at the homes my parents have built & would like fresh ideas on how to make this lasting memory a bit more fun/creative/modern. Just thought your creative juices might overflow in my direction. Thanks!

This doesn't involve the driveway, but I recently saw instructions for making concrete stepping stones with your kids' hand/foot prints. I thought it was a cute idea... you can add a stone each year as they grow. The best part is, if you ever move away, you can take the stepping stones with you.
@clothandcake-
When my dad poured a patio behind our house when I was a child, he poured a bit of the leftover concrete into a frizbee and had me write my name in it. Perfect size for a stepping stone, and now I have it at my own house.
i have also seen people use different marbles, rocks, tiles in the stepping stones. for a drive way i always have liked the look of the random leaf that fell into the wet cement. the marbles and other things stuck could come unstuck and lost over the years. i am trying to think of a toy that would still look cool as a imprint even if the toy is long gone! army men? not so girly... is she into barbie or polly pocket the little doll high heal shoe print would look cute too.
just had another thought...what about taking pictures of her doing the prints. make it a little walk of fame driveway gathering. she will always be famouse at grand parents house!
We just had a patio laid and I used rubber letter and number stamps to add the kids initials and year next to their handprints. It was much easier than trying to write in concrete. The toy idea is cool too.
When I was a child, my mother loved hanging laundry outdoors. My father built a patio with overhead clotheslines for my mother, and in the cement imbedded a permanent hopscotch 'ladder' and numbers outlined in pebbles. It was pretty wonderful!
