The yellow and grey color combo broke out of the gates a few years ago and is still going surprisingly strong, especially in children's rooms. Pairing neutral grey with a sunny yellow seems to be a happy compromise for parents who want some brightness in their child's room without going overboard. The combo also works equally well in rooms for boys or girls and is a popular choice when parents decorate a nursery before they learn the sex of their child.
Above are ten grey/yellow rooms to peruse. Click through the link to see more of each room. As you can see, most parents chose grey for the wall color and added yellow accents although a few made yellow an equal or dominant player in the room.
What do you think? Is this combo still "fresh" to you or overdone?

White Enamel Four-P...
I'm not a huge fan of gray for children. It looks too somber, like an effort to make kids into miniature, hyper-style-conscious adults. Whatever happened to neon brights and primaries?
I actually think yellow and gray is a very cheerful combo because the yellow pops so much. It's like sun after a rain storm!
As a designer I love being able to use the grey colors. You can use warmer tones or cooler tones, depending on your taste and they always tone things down. Children's rooms and nurseries tend to use very playful with lively colors and using grey as a compliment lets you focus more on the details of a room rather than feeling like you are looking at a box of crayons. My clients also seem to still be loving the yellow grey scheme and i enjoy using it because it can go traditional or modern.
I have seen more and more yellow and grey patterns popping up lately and really like it as a neutral baby nursery or a baby boy nursery color theme. I like that most of them are, like this one, without a specific pattern. This nursery is cheerful and bright! Very pretty baby room!

I think this room is adorable, bright and cheery, and I love the grey. Nice job!
I decorated my daughter's nursery in yellow & gray (with light blue accents) and I love it! I received a lot of comments from friends & family who thought that gray was not very "girly," but pastel walls just do not match the vibe of my house, and there are plenty of girly accessories in her gray room to make it very GIRLY! I actually saved several of the photos in this post to my nursery inspiration folder/Pinterest board when I was dreaming up her room :)
