Who doesn't love freshly laundered sheets. They might even help you sleep better. But with an Energy Star rated machine using 18-25 gallons of water per load (compared with 40 for standard machines) and the use of chemical detergents, it's not exactly easy on the environment. So two questions: How often do you wash your sheets and is there a way to keep sheets smelling fresh for more than a couple days?
Obviously different circumstances, habits and personal preferences will result in different laundering habits.
For example, showering before bed could certainly prolong time between sheet laundering, while having your pup join you each night could necessitate twice-weekly laundering.
A couple ideas for prolonging time between washing - would any of these work?
- Using a Febreze-like product. See link for ideas about Febreze.
- Use a eco-friendly or DIY-laundry sheet.
- Air out sheets during the day (a great excuse for why you forgot to make the bed, right?)
