A bright white kitchen is my ultimate dream come true. Carrara marble on the counter tops, subway tile on the walls and white cabinets with glass fronts — that would be my dream kitchen. I would wake up each day as if it were Christmas morning and my beautiful bright white kitchen would be the gift that keeps on giving.
Since I'm not in the position to have the kitchen of my dreams, I spend a lot of time looking for inspiration for when my time comes. It's hard to go wrong when designing a bright white kitchen, and there are just so many options. You can take the all white route with the white marble and subway tile or you can add hits of wood with butcher block or stainless steel counter tops and color accessories. There's no right or wrong way to do a white kitchen and that's what makes them so magical. Here are a few of my favorite bright white kitchens:
• Rustic White Kitchen, Living Etc
• Scandinavian White Kitchen, Skonahem
• Carole Lalli's Classic White Kitchen, House Beautiful
• Carrera marble Kitchen, Decor Pad
• A Bright White Kitchen, Apartment Therapy
Do you dream of bright white kitchens too?

I'm not so on board with all-white kitchens, but I love our white cabinets and light green walls in our kitchen.
I LOVE all of them!!
While stunningly gorgeous I see little practicality. Constantly wiping those white counter-tops, dusting those white cabinet ledges, and living in constant terror of spaghetti sauce and red wine.
Ditto, Modfan.
As much as I love an all-white kitchen, I'm going with a charcoal gray floor and granite counter, white cabinets for my new kitchen. While I love living in the city, I hate the black dust that seems to accumulate on everything. All-white is great until it starts accumulating dust in all the little details.
That's beautiful, but cooking usually leads to spills, crumbs, etc... all I can see is how messy it'd be on a daily basis. Unless you're a compulsive cleaner.
I do like how bright it is though!
Love these. My dream kitchen is all white, but with a more environmentally friendly counter than marble, and maybe an acid green tile.
I currently have a kitchen with a lot of black - black stove, black countertop -- and go mad because it shows dust and dirt like crazy. I would much rather have everything white, which at least when it is cleaned, looks fresh and sparkly! Granted, I'm also a fan of white cabinets because they brighten the space. I have been itching to paint the inexpensive wood cabinets in my rental that never look good no matter what I do to them. I've had a creamy white kitchen that was right out of House Beautiful that I adored with painted custom cabinets, matching panels on the refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher, dark stained wood floors and an offwhite background wall paper - I call it my Doris Day kitchen -- made me want to put on a dress and pearls and sing while I was cooking!
I was so lucky to purchase a home with white cabinets. Not in love with their makeup, but I love that they are white. It also ensures that I clean as often as I should, because if they were wood I would not notice when I need to wipe them down.
I am eager to replace the dark formica countertops with something lighter too, like an icestone.
I am in total agreement with modfan and katalyst. It's not just the dust or cooking spills. What about all the aerosolized grease and particles from cooking steam that coats kitchen surfaces. I love the look of these but think they are totally unlivable.
Any thoughts on what white cabinetry and stainless steel countertop would look like?
Our home came with standard white cabinets and a white countertop. We would like to do a small renovation, just changing out the countertop because it's all scratched up and stained a bit. I like the idea of a stainless steel countertop (I've been in someone's kitchen with SS and it was gorgeous) and thought about combining it with a very light wood finish because I like a bright kitchen. But now I'm thinking of keeping the cabinets white and just changing the doors to ones with glass windows (plus, it's cheaper). I do love my white cabinets.
Niamh: That aerosolized grease awful. I love the look of beadboard, which I have in the backporch off the kitchen. It's painted white, and the slime slides down the channels, which is cleanable UNTIL you get down to the baseboard. Then, unless I want to take a toothpick with paper towel wadded round to poke out each orifice, it stays there. Needless to say, I don't, and it does. Is there some trick I'm missing?
white is WAY easier to clean than black or brown. I swear! A little spray w/bleach? done
I love main photo, although my personal preference would have been to have the exposed ceiling rafters in a natural, yet weathered, wood finish.
Although these are so big that there may be too much white, a smaller, simple, modern kitchen may look cohesive and larger in white. White also may help keep a kitchen clean by making any mess visible immediately, when it can be removed most easily. Just looking clean isn't enough for a kitchen or bath. Dirt-hiding surfaces are more practical in hall or gathering room flooring.
I used to find white kitchens a little too sterile, but as I have begun to file away ideas for an eventual kitchen overhaul (currently have an original, completely untouched 1962 kitchen - complete with 50 year old "patina") I am realizing how smart white is in a kitchen. You will be able to see where you dropped food and if you actually wiped it up effectively.
I love my all white kitchen. I have all white caesarstone counter tops and a glass tile back splash. I have yet obtained a permanent stain.
Just put in an all white laundry room/pantry except for dark gray brown tile floors and medium brown gray counters with ss sink/nickel faucet and nickkel cabinet hardware. Looks bright, clean, fresh and cheerful. Currently planning pale pink accents. Bought cute penny candy jars that I filled with my dogs' kibble (kibble matches the color of the counter).
Counter is left over corian from a tile shop so super cheap - just had to take what they had and it ended up working out perfectly.
Don't understand the complaints about grease and dirt, because every kitchen becomes greasy and dirty, you just don't see it. I rather wipe the counters twice a day and have a real clean surface. My next kitchen will have white quartz counters and I'm looking forward to their crispness.
I think the white kitchens are lovely... not for me, but still lovely. My only reservation is the white flooring; it's just seems like too much white for any room.
Definitely kitchens to dream on. I use way too much turmeric and drink way too much red wine to make them reality.
I definitely agree with Miami Elaine, I much prefer to be able to immediately see where my kitchen is unclean so it can be dealt with right then & there. To me that's one of the appeals of a white kitchen.
I redid my kitchen a year ago in almost all white -- the counters are gray quartz, but the cabinets and backsplash and open shelf are bright white. I have not found it to be impractical at all. I wipe up after cooking, as I would do if it were any color. It still looks sparkling white after a year.
I redid my fiance's dismal NYC kitchen in all white because the star of the room was a freakishly huge and pristine white porcelain sink. After a year of saving gorgeous images from online sources I did what I could on a budget and the result is a kitchen I love to cook in, have no fear of messing up (I sling whatever I want and wipe-up is a breeze) and that never fails to amaze friends when they come over. After the grim climb up our tenement building stairs friends walk into a bright white kitchen that's totally not what you'd expect. No problem to clean any more than any other color scheme - and whatever you put in it pops. Plants, stainless steel appliances, cookbooks, cutting boards, kitchen towels- looks classy, homey and - really - always clean. Yes, yes, yes to white!
LOVE my all white kitchen. It doesn't show as much dirt as you'd think, which is a down side to me, as I like to know where the mess is. I was constantly surprised by messes with my granite countertops and I hated that. I couldn't even see a huge gathering of ants at one point! I use turmeric, wine, coffee and tea abundantly without any fear or problems. You need to clean your messes no matter the color. As for the beadboard, that's the beadboard, not the color.
Love all-white kitchens and homes. Only the photos are often misleading, where you can enhance the white level so much even if it will turn out yellowish or darkish in real lighting...
Having white be dominant works best with a subtle contrast, like the cupboard and island top in the main photo. It's a beautiful kitchen. However, having had a kitchen with a white floor before, I can tell you that it will show every single bit of dirt and require constant attention if you want it to look nice. Never again for me!
