This post made me realize that I read this site only partly for the decorating. After viewing so many lovely, immaculate spaces, I always have the urge to improve my housekeeping. Thanks, AT!
I redid a thrift store dresser this past year and it was so worth the effort as I turned it from something that was quite junky into something I love.
Here's a tip I read on the comments page of a similar DIY: if you paint, or do a stain/paint combo like the first example, only paint the fronts of the drawers. This avoids the "blocking" (sticking) that can result.
I love the first picture! I just bought 2 of the rast chests from ikea and I am planning on painting them also. I love the look of the first one but I do want to put my own spin on it. Not quite sure what I want to do yet.
