At Apartment Therapy we have love for all kinds of kitchens. Eclectic, neat, organized, traditional or modern — you name it and we can find something we love about it. Due to the fact that this month is about starting fresh, moder and minimal kitchens are on our minds.
Modern and minimal doesn't always mean everything has to be put away as if no one actually lives there. These kitchens are great examples of lived in modern and minimal. There are still jars and appliances on the counters, but done in a minimalistic way to avoid the space looking cluttered. Cooking is always more difficult when you don't have space to move around. Here are some of our favorite inspirational moder and minimal kitchens:
• Modern White Kitchen, Michael Wells Photography
• North End Contemporary Renovation, Apartment Therapy
• Inspiration: Swedish Kitchens, Apartment Therapy
• Vetronica Kitchen from Mesons, Freshome
• Kitchen Tour: Wall Street at the Setai, The Kitchn

Shaw's Original Fir...
Love photos 1 & 2; 3 & 4 leave me a bit cold.
@Kris0218 I think that's probably because 1 and 2 emphasize the decor space and 3 and 4 emphasize counters and cabinets, which are more functional.
I need to be as efficient as I can in my teeny kitchen, so I'm always more interested in how people design for efficiency. Comfort elements like a breakfast nook don't apply to me because I don't have one.
I love the hanging strip in the fourth photo. I don't have enough space between my cabinets and my counter to put up something similar, but I have strainers and measuring cups hanging with plain nails and it works very well.
I love a minimal kitchen. I think I may prioritize cleaning a bit too much when considering design, but kitchens like these must be a snap to clean!

Anyone know where the table can be found in #1?
Can't see enough of #1 to know if I like it or not. #2 wouldn't work for me as I'm not neat enough to have open shelving and I can't reach most of it anyway. Love #3. Hate #4 because it's yellow and the only thing that should be yellow is the sun and flowers. #5 is nice, wish I could see more of it.
I love the storage capacity of No. 3! Also, I love the white color palett (pallete?) of No. 1.
I guess minimal means style not size. Minimal in a tiny space is a challenge. Minimal in a huge space with a huge budget is easy.
