During the holidays we receive an abundance of messages reminding us to give to those less fortunate. Often times, once the holidays are past and we resume our lives and work, we forget that giving to others is still so important.
Not only does it help others, but it also will help to declutter your home. Many of us are making room for gifts we have received over the holidays. Why not try giving something away that you will not use, or giving something old to make room for the new? Giving is good for your heart, your home and for those who need it.
Many organizations will pick up the things you wish to give and are only a phone call away.
Here are some national links:
• Salvation Army
• Goodwill
• St. Vincent de Paul
...but we'd really love it if you could add your local favorites to the comments below. Which organizations in your city or town could benefit from donations this month?

Shaw's Original Fir...
Recently moved into a new apartment and finally fixed up my closet. So many items I’m going to be donating, including a few blankets (about 2 large boxes worth of stuff!). I’m still learning the area so thanks so much for the links. Hopefully I can drop everything off this weekend. :)
Freecycle!
Fun fact from a fundraising professional: many charities see a flood of donations (both cash and "stuff") around the holidays, but do not operate on a 12/31 fiscal year. If it works with your lifestyle, you might consider doing your charitable donations in June or August which is often when charities have the greatest need.
