It's no secret that color is a powerful thing. The right color combination can inspire serenity or interest in a room. And the wrong palette? That might only manage to conjure up a vision of Ronald McDonald.

For one reason or another, there are a handful of color combinations that we, the collective of design-lovers, have written off as unusable in a space. But there's an exception to every rule, and these eight rooms are it.
