Fritz and Family's Live/Work Rowhouse

House Call

Name: Fritz, Susan and Ava
Location: South End, Boston, Massachusetts

When we renovated our house, the main challenge was creating a modern, open, flexible live/work space within the constraints of the original 1850 rowhouse. Each floor is just over 400 square feet, and gets more private as you go up.

The first floor is office space for my graphic design firm Visual Dialogue and my partner Susan Battista's market research firm Topic 101. Above that is an open kitchen/dining/living space on the 2nd floor. Our 9 year-old daughter Ava Detroit's bedroom is on the 3rd floor, along with a small tv room which can be converted to a guest room. And the top floor is the master bedroom and bathroom with tree top views of Boston.

Thanks, Fritz !
