From Banner to Bag

From Banner to Bag

We've been a fan of Queen Bee for years: her bags are durable, well-designed, and handmade with care in one of our favorite cities, Portland, Oregon. Now there's an even more local spin: this line of bags made from cast-off vinyl banners—you know, the kind that cities hang from street lights to advertise museum openings and other events. Right now, there are two styles:

Ice Ice Blue, shown left, and Autumn Moon, shown above. Obviously, each bag is slightly different, so what you get will vary slightly from these photos, but that's part of the authenticity.

The bags fold flat and have ventilated sides—perfect for hauling food back from the farmer's market.

There's a mesh-less version available, too.

Considering the craft involved, the $38 price tag is totally reasonable... plus, there's a raft of environmental reasons to stop using plastic bags. If you or a loved one hasn't yet made the switch, take a moment and get on the bandwagon.

Thanks to Robin for the tip!
