While San Francisco may not boast proper ice cream eating weather, we do have some amazing ice cream (Bi-Rite Creamery's vegan chocolate coconut is my personal recommendation). To encourage the sun to shine just a bit brighter- and to help cool down those of you in blazing climates- I've rounded up my favorite frozen treat-inspired home goods…

• Pancake & Franks will customize their I Scream! You Scream! prints with a child's name and birth details. So bright & festive!


• Mosie26 altered this vintage plate with a sweet and quirky image of birds eating a sundae- it would be so sweet in a breakfast nook.


• Wouldn't these ice cream and popsicle erasers from Superbuzzy look darling on a kid's desk? And even more darling on my desk?


• Also from Superbuzzy is this ice cream & elephant notebook. With its sturdy vinyl cover, I thought it would make a perfect summer journal for a kid. They could fill it with memories and games of M.A.S.H. and the Olympic schedule so they don't miss any of the gymnastics or diving....if they're anything like I was when I was little.


• People throw around the phrase, "No kitchen is complete without _____", but here it is: no kitchen is complete without a light saber popsicle maker from ThinkGeek. "Each hilt has an LED in it, to light up the 'blade'"! So necessary.

And here is where my ice cream explorations get big and expensive: I searched for "ice cream" on 1stDIBS. So dangerous. Please note that all of these items are from different dealers, but they all have unlisted prices- which in my experience means "many, many zeros". But doesn't every home need a Parisian ice cream cart from the 1950s and an amazing 8-foot ice cream parlor sign? How about a Maloof's Ice Cream Shoppe sign because the word "Maloof" is funny, or a giant metal bowl of ice cream that looks like a brain? And, oh, how I'd love to twirl on these 1920s ice cream parlor stools- but unless my budget and my apartment get much larger, it's not to be. If any of you end up inquiring into these prices, please share with the class!
