I'm looking at having a rather large gathering this holiday season, and although I have a ridiculous amount of white plates, I'm rather lacking in the cup department. Dinner I can cover, but post-party refreshments glassware I'm a little shy on. Although they offer eco-friendly disposable options, I'd prefer not to, and I think this nutritious option might just be what I'm looking for. Ali over at Gimmie Some Oven is always thinking up something great, and although we leave the cooking and baking to The Kitchn, this idea strays into the tabletop decor department.
Ali decided to use a paring knife and a spoon (or a melon baller if you have it) to hollow out some apples to act as cider cups. They make an extra pretty presentation that has purpose to boot! It would be a great way to serve up a warm beverage after dinner and have a little snack when you're done.
If you were so bold, you could probably utilize pears, large plums or even a tomato if you're serving up a Bloody Mary. Check out more on this idea over at Gimmie Some Oven.
