We were looking at a list of five things that should always be in the home, and one of the items listed was a touch of life, like as in a plant or a pet. We couldn’t agree more. When we’ve got a dinner party coming up and we survey our home and feel like there’s a little something missing, adding a touch of nature and life always does the trick. With no pets…we usually lean on flowers, but we know those who love to bring out a colorful bowl of apples, oranges or something exotic to tie in a color scheme and make a room seem more edible!

flowers, flowers!
bowl of fruits is nice but my family usually can't eat a bowl of fruits.
I'm not usually a flower person, but I love flowers during the nice weather---which is too short in the Midwest.
I love the first pic! I like the idea of decorating with cats...they are like furry pillows that sleep all the time (like my two purrr babies). Probably best to have a neutral cat and a dramatic cat...to keep things new and interesting mixed in with the throws and pillows on couches and beds. ;-P
There usually are fruit arrangements on the kitchen counter and stove top. They're there to be used, but they also look nice.
LOLOLOL@trissi. My three "decorcats" are my only indulgences. None are neutral. Great comment!
All three! Currently I have a teapot of roses and a bowl of fruit sitting on the table and a few felines wandering around!
Me too, Thera!
It used to be fresh flowers...
...until I adopted my two kitties who have quite the taste for flowers. One of whom can jump to every surface in the house. Now it's the kitties.
Or my creative attempts to bring flower-like items into the house (most recently, for easter, I made some large fake flowers out of yellow paper napkins and hung them from the ceiling over the table for a chandelier effect).
Since a couple of our cats are nibblers (and thrower-up-ers--yes, even fake greenery) or plants and flowers, we stick to the cats or fruit as design.
Fur! (but only on my pets and NOT from dead animals) My pets are what make my place a home!
