Fun Weekend Project: The Painted Closet

We love the little surprise details of a home that aren't apparent right away when you walk in. A brightly painted closet interior is one of these, and it's such an easy weekend project that we have to wonder why we don't see this look more often. In case you've been in search of a project for this sunny Sunday, here are a few painted closets to inspire you, some fancy and some plain, some familiar and some new to Apartment Therapy...

1 This yellow is just the perfect choice for a closet off the kitchen, originally featured in Cottage Living.

2 A bold, unexpected red works well in this dramatically wallpapered room, designed by Nina V. Freudenberger of The Cultivated Home (from the Design Public blog).

3 A bright closet in a white room is especially nice, as it provides a pop of color that can be hidden away at will. Image from Envelope A + D (previously featured on Apartment Therapy here).

4 Applying wallpaper inside a closet could also be fun, if a bit more involved than just painting. Read Josh and Summer's whole house tour here.

5 This fancy-schmancy pink closet is the ultimate girly indulgence. From ehow.

What do you think? What colors would you choose for your closets?
