I have an entire book of plans entirely for 2x4s. It's nice stuff, but it definitely looks best painted.
I made the chair in the 1st image last summer. The plans were presented by the designer Sander Vieggurs in the June 2010 issue of ReadyMade magazine. People of all sizes have commented on the chair's comfort and looks. Super sturdy, too. First piece of furniture I ever made, the plans were easy.
Now Sanders is charging for his plans (From $2.50 to $5.00) but worth it.
