Name: Gabriella (4)
Location: GTA, Canada
Division: International
Room Size: 74.5 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: Deciding on a neutral colour of furniture, such as white, is great to add to and personalize as the child grows. It is so timeless and easy to work with especially in a small space.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: Storage is always a challenge (as with most small spaces), there are boxes with toys under the bed and in the closet. Actually, the bottom of the closet contains a bookcase that houses only toys and books that my daughter can easily access herself - the drapes swing to the side whenever it's play time.
Favorite Thing About This Room: This inspiration for this room is definitely in the art. My daughter already has a lovely collection of original paintings and prints that make quite a statement. So we had fun creating little wall vignettes with the art and photos that compliment her personality and the style of the room. I also made a few things that make this room feel more special, such as the mobile-chandelier, toy house from a diaper box, and decoupaged handles on an old desk. There is a fun interchangeable Creative Wall with chalkboard paint and paper with home made salt-dough magnets. And the tree decal was also diy'ed into a growth chart!
Thanks for your entry Ella and good luck!

Nomade Express Slee...
The rug! The rug! The rug! This room is so gorgeous and so inspirational. I just love it!
What a lovely room. I want to live in there. It is feminine without being too frilly or too pink. You have also managed to make it a fun, playful space as well as a calming space. Excellent job. I'll file this one away as inspiration in case I have a girl.
And that rug. I love that rug!
LOVE!!! Need sources for: the rug (of course) the handles on the desk & the wall color. I'd trade my eye teeth for that dollhouse on the desk. What's the story on that?
Love the rug as well - where is it from! I am about to start a shared little girls space I love that there are some other colors aside from pink!
You did a lovely job!
I love the colors scheme...the walls are my favorite color. :) Definitely one of my favorite rooms so far!
I think this one might be my all-time favorite. I just love it!
What an awesome room! Love the bird theme and how you carried it through in so many different mediums, textures and colours. Fabulous job of the bird chandelier!
I have been considering that bed for our daughter. Is it very squeaky? The one in the store was, but who knows about the floor model. I just don't want it to make noise every time she rolls over.
LOVE!
I love this! Minimalist rooms do nothing for me--I adore rooms like this packed with tiny lovely little details and charms.
Thanks everyone for your sweet comments.
The rug is from Home Sense (same company as Marshall's but with home decor) the company that makes it tough is called Maples Industries.
The handles on the desk are a little decoupage DIY that I did with random squares of tissue paper. I will have a tutorial on my blog soon.
About that wall colour? I'm looking for a sample... meanwhile, it's a soft sky blue and the ceiling is painted one shade lighter.
slobound - The bed doesn't really squeak that we would have noticed. Occasionally it makes a sound but we don't have a problem with that. The metal bed frames are very hard though and one thing to keep in mind is if your child tosses and turns in their sleep a lot. We had that problem at first when my daughter was younger (she moved to this bed at 2 1/2) and we layered some blankets and side cushions to soften these hard edges. But that's a problem you'll get with any metal bed frames, or even wood. The best part is the pull out feature. The bed right now is positioned at its shortest and soon we will be enlarging it one more step and it will then go lengthwise along the window.
Another great tip for small spaces is to look for furniture that grows with your child so you don't sacrifice the square footage and won't need to get new furniture.
BTW, This room evolved from a garden theme which was also featured on ohdeedoh ;)
anyone interested search for (Gabriella Mississauga) (I can't add the link because the comment will get removed). Only half of the room got repainted with the left over paint - quite an easy and inexpensive transition for a very different look.
Thanks again everyone for your lovely and kind words and I'm glad this little room is inspiring someone. Your votes are very much appreciated ;)

This is Amy over at Daisy's room and i must say, one good vote deserves another!
I love your paint choice, and the fact that majority of the room was a culmination of great finds and DIY projects. This room looks lived in and loved for and that's why I'm voting for it : )

I don't have a daughter or even a baby at this point... But I am so in love with this room... It looks like it has all her favourite treasures and I would have loved to have a special little place like this growing up!
Yay! we'removing to GTA soon, and I was missing TJMaxx! So nice to see you've decorated a lovely room with finds from one of their companies. It really is lovely!
I love the artwork..so dreamy and whimsical and with rich vibrant colors. I love how it's not matchy-matchy, but complementary with colors playing opposite each other in the frames and the paintings. The green bride's dress and the harlequin bird artwork especially caught my eye. Can you share your artwork sources?
Super sweet and girly and unfussy, i love it.
OMG!!! This is the cutest little girl's room I have ever seen!!! So dreamy... I would love to do a room like this for my daughter... you are really talented to put this together! Good luck, this room should win hands down!!!!
