Chicago photographer Nathan Baker has captured the essence of small home accidents in his series entitled Rupture, Part One...
Mundane drips, spills and imperfections are the subject of the series. I especially appreciate the "pot boiling over guy" looking completely defeated and the perfect contemporary interior complete with broken vase and offended homeowner. That pepto in #2 manages to be both gross and ominous. Personally my 'home accidents' always end up more epic than this (collapsed plaster ceilings, etc).

Yes, the pot-boiling-over guy reminds me of... well, me..... with the recent episode I mentioned elsewhere, when I saw a possum sitting on the toilet in the middle of the night.
Was that Dryer's (Eddie's) limited edition peppermint ice cream in the last shot??? What a waste!

Indeed, life is messy, right now if you were to go into my apartment, you'd see my pullman still sitting in the floor of my, stuff tossed onto a chair, crap on the floor - all in the bedroom, dusty furniture, carpeting that needs stretching, some albums that need to be put away and recyclables to take to the dumpster but nothing that's spilled although I DO tend to splatter water when I wash dishes and then have to clean the floor afterwards.
Cooking always brings about their own messes - especially at the stove and I have chipped a bowl in my dinnerware I bought early this past winter and a couple of years ago, broke a wine glass, actually last year broke another one from a different set
I can never keep my desk neat and tidy for long. I get it all nice looking and 2 days later stuff piles up on it again. :-(
BTW, love that kitchen shot of the pot boiling over, it's the decrepid stove that still works, the ancient but dirty fridge stuff scattered all over the table and another table where dishes are stacked next to an industrial type sink and then the guy looking defeated as his dinner boils over.

I love how they're all just staring at the mess, like, "Fuuuuuck." That's totally what happens in real life, you're just resigned.

I actually met Nathan, he came to our class to chat, pretty cool guy. What is especially great about these images is he uses a 4x5 large format camera to "capture" these moments, in reality they are completely set up and take a lot of time to actually acheive that 'oh crap' moment. I think the next series he was working on was taking images of just the object in distress without the people, but at the time he had no idea where he was going with it.
