Often, remaking something old is the most accessible way to have anything new to look at in our house. The new issue of Sunset features a gallery of home items that have been refreshed — and in some cases completely transformed — for Spring.

Clockwise from top left:
• Before turning over old clothes for donation, check to see if any have fabric or patterns that could see new life as a throw pillow.
• Old metal goblets are a great thrift-store score, and they're awesome as candles.
• This yellow desk is pretty cute as is, but why confine it to the office? A simple change in location makes it a bedroom vanity.
• Two old bedside tables have a nice patina as is, but if you don't care for it (or don't have room on either side of your bed for matching tables, like us), painting and placing them side-by-side in an entryway creates a unique landing strip.
