We've blogged about Wary Meyers interiors before but we only recently discovered their paintings. We're enamored with them because their cartoonish quality captures the playfulness and excitement of "the big day" without being overly-sentimental.
The wedding portraits are painted in acrylics on 20" x 24" canvas. To get started, they'll need 5-10 crisp photos of the bride and groom, smiling. To effectively render the happy couple, they request plenty of head shots. Once they receive photos, they'll work with you on the details of background imagery and location.
The price for this special gift starts at $2,500, with a 50% deposit due upon order. Pricey, maybe, but who are we to discount on love...?

Wow. Not only are these incredibly tacky and poorly executed, but all the brides look like clones of one another (blond, unnaturally skinny, with melons for breasts). $2,500?!
I wouldn't want to have dinner with any of those couples, and I don't know whether to blame the artist or the subjects. Dude with soul patch in #1 needs a bracing punch in the face. And don't even get me started on the boobalicious brides. Ugh.
Um, I think they're kind of cute, mostly because I like the color combinations. Although I agree that the brides are not very appealing and the price is absurd.
I really like "Baby and Bunny Gurley" painting (from the provided link) and would totally hang that up in my place.

Actually they make me think of children's book illustrations. In that context, I don't think they're so bad. I don't think I'd pay for one, though.
Will all of you people get over yourselves???? These are fun, whimsical, imaginative and something beyond the typical wedding gifts that usually get returned. Who's to say the brides don't really look like this? Sort of Contemporary Grandma Moses!

Being Latino I would like to see my people represented --- even in pastiche Grandma Moses paintings.

It was a really fun experience working with John to personalize everything. If you look closely, you can see that the crest incorporates our love of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and rabbits (obviously).
They have a great Hippy style. If you can afford it, why not?
BTW, he works by commission. Not his fault if his clients look like Barbie. I for one am a short Asian girl.
i really relate to Wary Meyers design aesthetic, but these are a bit too "whimsical" to me. i mean, they're nice! and cute and fun and stuff...but just not my style.
I have to say that I find the style very unappealing. The women look anorexic with implants. There's whimsy, and there are "wedding portraits". These aren't portraits. Distorted, hyper-idealized pictures are fine for illustrations, but I wouldn't want this to as a wedding gift.
I love these- I think they're fantastic, and kudos to the couple who orders them! Obviously they want a fun whimsical portrait of themselves. I LOVE the top one with the soap bubbles and the bride and groom's reflections.
