Gallop is a different kind of book because it's a scanimation book. As kids flip each page they'll see animals move...a horse gallops, a turtle swims, and a butterfly flutters.
The animation process works with a striped acetate overlay and gives the illusion of motion. We don't need to know the details, but anything that gets a child to flip the page and read is OK by us. It's available here.

I love this book. In addition to being super cool, it's a hardy little nugget. My youngest is ROUGH on books and this one is still kickin' and fluttering and galloping!
I agree that it's a tough little book. It has the appeal of a pop up book, but nothing get ripped out. My 2 yr old LOVES it!
I bought this at the Museum of Moving Images, a fun place to go.
We found this book at Costco around Easter time and love it. Its my GO TO gift for kids right now.
I saw this at Barnes & Noble the other day. Very cool.
I saw this at Costco and should have bought it! Now I'm kicking myself.
I picked up a copy of this at Borders just this past weekend.... I was like, "Honey what's this...." and started flipping the pages where in I IMMEDIATELY freaked out over how cool it was.
... I think he may have bought it for me just out of embarrassment hahaha... I like to think it's because he loves me!
My three year old niece and I have paged through this book again and again...and again. The fun part is that every time we look at it, she laughs so hard that I get laughing at her, then she laughs at me, and before we know it we're a big 'ol pile on the floor. Just when we settle down, she turns the page and we're at it again. That's some of the best stuff in life!
