The garage — probably the most unloved space in your home (if you even have one). Not any more! These garage inspirations may help you create a space that puts the "fun" in functional.
My garage is filled to the brim with, let's face it, mostly junk. I never put much thought into it until now. I'm surprised that I have neglected such a large part of my home. When I laid my eyes on the following photos, I was truly excited to start our garage organization.
Photo One: California Closets has created the happiest garage space I have ever seen. With clean white walls and shelving, even the jug of automobile oil looks like art! If my garage ever looked like this, it might be hard to leave.
Photo Two: Better Homes and Gardens' painted pegboard and decorative touches add a fun flair to this garage. The happy blue lockers are a great storage idea that also add a bit of playfulness to the space. Check out the full article Ideas for Garage Organization for more great tips!
Photos Three & Four: Leave it to Martha Stewart to create such a "homey" garage space. With pine walls, built-in storage and a mudroom, this garage is defintely a place to take off your hat and stay awhile.
Photo Five: One more from California Closets. The chocolate walls and steel cabinets give this garage a cool, modern, serene sensibility. Check out their website for more garage storage ideas and inspirations.

The lead picture reminds me of the 1950s home magazine photos of a carpeted garage with a living room sofa next to the car. Both are manufacturers trying to sell a silly and unrealistic lifestyle.
Oh my, but I wish my garage looked like that unrealistic lifestyle. Instead, it tends to look like a promo for hoarders.
If these pictures are of garages, then I have no idea what the heck to call the disgusting hole in which my car sleeps. Because it sure doesn't look like the pictures!

what a dream! so clean and tidy and fun!
reality....my husband is a contractor and our garage looks like a bomb went off and then a bunch of hoarders moved their stuff into our garage.
Gotta do all my spray painting, wood stripping, etc somewhere. A fancy garage is not in my future any time soon.
Love the first one - it doesn't even look like a garage. Rather a room I'd be happy to have inside.
These look more like my garden detached workshop than garages, although mine is smaller, more packed, and less colorful. With no garage, attic, or basement, my workshop is used heavily. I'm glad I added it, and recommend it to other homeowners with small lots. It was cheaper and more useful than making an addition.
None of these spaces look like somewhere to put a car, especially the first one. I'm not a fan of this trend of treating the garage as if it's not a garage.
I've managed to organize my garage recently, thanks to these garage storage tips.
