I've often pondered taking in some old worn furniture and having it spray painted with automotive paint. But I've never considered adorning furniture in automotive carbon fiber like the team at Garageworks Industries have done with a selection of Eames rocker and shell chairs. There's something very sexy about the results...as if Charles Eames and Tom Ford had decided to work together.
What was once modern-fun is transformed into something more textural and mysterious, a shining example of how choice of materical can affect the visual personality of any object (I love how the brown side chair looks like bump textured leather). I'd personally love to see them make a matching MidCentury carbon fiber credenza, with a leather lined interior, taking the automotive design analogy even further. Not that I could afford it, but you know, sometimes the fun is in the daydreaming. [via Carbon Fiber is Rad]

Not really digging carbon fiber outside of an automotive or tech context. To me, this application might not even work in the context of a nightclub/bar/lounge. Unless, of course, the bar had an automotive or tech theme--which would make the carbon fiber seem even that much more tacky... It doesn't "read" Tom Ford. Maybe Edsel Ford? Klick and Klack?
i like it! not sure i agree with the Tom Ford comment, but i do like the carbon fiber for the chair. will this be available soon?
I think it rocks. I would get my headboard covered in it if I knew where and could afford it.
